Volvo Cars Stadium- Each year the world’s finest women tennis professionals come to compete in the Volvo Cars Open World Tennis Association Tournament. Some of the past winners are Venus and Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki and Sabine Lisicki. The facility is also frequently used as a concert venue treating audiences to celebrity performers like Willie Nelson, Sugarland, Train, The Beach Boys, and Darius Rucker. The annual Hootie and the Blowfish concert is always a sellout. While there is plenty of free parking but local islanders ride their bikes or hop in the golf car to get there.
LTP Tennis Center-Members at this sprawling complex have access to 20 courts including 4 clay and 6 hard courts. All lighted for night play. There is an extensive teaching academy and a pro shop stocked with the latest attire. The 10,000 square foot clubhouse serves many entertainment purposes throughout the year including fundraisers and charity events.
Parks- Daniel Island has hundreds of acres of parks. It could take you weeks to see each one, but don’t miss Park Day in Smythe Park. Each year residents gather around the 11-acre lake and enjoy a day of food, music, and laughter. Have fun with hundreds of your friends and neighbors.
Walking/Bike Trails- The island is a walking and cycling dream. More than 18 miles of trails in all, the circuit winds through neighborhoods, over marshes and along the waterfront. Location/Directions
Daniel Island Park is conveniently located on the north side of Daniel Island. It seems like you can get just about anywhere in Charleston on I-526 freeway that acts as a bypass around Charleston in no more than 20 minutes. I-526 connects Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Island, North Charleston, and West Ashley. Area beaches of Sullivan’s Island or Isle of Palms are 15-20 minutes and the Charleston airport is usually about 15 minutes. The trip into Historic Charleston can be accomplished two ways and both take about 20 minutes. Here is an actual mileage chart for your convenience.
