Charleston South Carolina beaches are amazing and usually not crowded. I grew up in the Valley Forge area. My buddies would hop up the car and drive 2-3 hours in bumper to bumper traffic to New Jersey beaches. We had to have beach tags, pay for parking and get real cozy with strangers spread out nearby. Now we live 20 minutes from the beach. Beaches are not crowded (except maybe this weekend). Parking is mostly free. What a wonderful thing.
