I had dinner with a close friend recently. He is a major adventure seeker. He swam with sharks off the Great Barrier Reef, ran with the bulls in Spain, climbed to Michu Pichu and more. I have tremendous respect for those who grab for the gusto in life. He seems to enjoy making others think about their life. He asked me "So what's on your bucket list?"
A highlight of my adventures was sailing a 65' yacht through an unexpected hurricane off the west coast of Florida. Sailing a 42' catamaran in rough weather from San Francisco to Seattle. Climbing 5 14,000' high mountain peaks in Colorado. Hum ... so now what is my bucket list?
Since I moved to Charleston I don't find myself as anxious to go find the next hot spot or adventure. As I reflected over the next few days, I realized it is because Charleston has so much to do. Between the plethora of excellent restaurants hidden away throughout Historic Charleston, 24 miles of bike paths on Daniel Island, the pristine white beaches of Isle Of Palms, Sullivans Island, and Kiawah, fabulous fishing inshore and offshore, kayaking up any of the beautiful creeks, world class tennis and golf, studying the amazing history of Charleston and wonderful balmy weather to enjoy it all.
I feel like I haven't scratched the surface of all that Charleston has to offers. In fact, when we do travel to a resort these days, I find myself thinking why did I leave Charleston when it has all this and more?
I'm sure there are still adventures ahead for me, but for now, I am pinching myself. I live in paradise.
