For those of you coming to Charleston during the Spoleto Festival who were not able to score tickets to any of the 6 performances of Porgy and Bess, all is not lost. Spoleto Festival USA has announced the first ever simulcast of the opera's performance. What better story to celebrate the 40 years of the festival than Debose Heyward's tale of life and love in historic Catfish Row right here in the Holy City. Imagine watching this timeless masterpiece with all your friends on the lawn at Marion Square. I suspect this has the possibility to become a massive sing along to those great Gershwin tunes like "Summertime" and "I got plenty o'nuttin' " all on the Jumbotron screen. Monday, May 30th 7:30pm in Downtown Charleston "where the livin' is easy, fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high"
