Charleston's history is fascinating. The city was destroyed by fire, wiped out by disease, ravaged by pirates and much more. The Civil War started in Charleston Harbor. Well how about a rice plantation that was burned by the Union soldiers in the Civil War and then rebuilt by a New York stockbroker in 1931. Looking very much like a scene from Gone With The Wind, the drive is lined with ancient grand oaks trees that frame southern columns...what a picture. As the newspaper boy said selling newspapers on the street in 1931 "read all about it"
