HISTORIC CHARLESTON

Charleston is a small city unlike any other in the country. Residents enjoy living on cobblestone streets with homes dating back 300 years that have been painstakingly preserved. Horse drawn carriages clicky clack down the streets with visitors thinking they just saw a pirate run down an alley. The history provides the back drop for an urban lifestyle that offers cultural venues, museums and outstanding restaurants equivalent to most major cities. Housing options are as unique as the city. More About Historic Charleston

Housing Options

Options for homes in historic Charleston are quite diverse. Historic homes are a passion here. Homes ranging up to 300 years old have been painstakingly restored. "South of Broad" is the prestigious address in the city, but many other gorgeous homes above Broad Street would challenge that statement. Homes range from $100,000 for a fixer-upper to $23,000,000 for a palatial, 17,142 sq ft Charleston Gem, the Sword Gate House.  Condos/Townhomes/Row Houses range from $100,000 to $3,450,000 for 6500 sq. ft. row house with a "South of Broad" address. There are newer condominium buildings, so if you prefer newer, we have perfect options. Shopping for a home in downtown Charleston is quite interesting with the cobblestone streets, slanted floors of historic homes and stories of what happened on the premises when the pirates last visited.

Dining and Shopping

Charleston is known for its fabulous restaurants, too many to name but a few favorites you need to try… Tourists flock to Hymans Seafood - renowned for its seafood or try the elegant dining experience of Peninsula Grill with its delicious regional flair, for steaks its a close call between Oak Steak House and Halls Chop House or for casual dining get in the line for Justines Kitchen with an authentic Southern twist.   Charleston Place Hotel offers several fine dining venues, as well as world class accommodations. Visit a shopper’s paradise on King Street or the famous ‘Market” with local handcrafted goods by authentic Southern craftsman.  Need a good restaurant recommendation, we are happy to help just give us a call.

Things To Do Downtown

There is an endless list of things to enjoy in Charleston. It sounds corny, but you have to do the carriage rides. There are about 8 tours randomly assigned so the neighborhoods don't get too jammed up with horse drawn carriages. You will gain an immediate appreciation of the history of this magical town. The boat ride out to Ft. Sumter is a must. Ft. Sumpter was the site of the firstattle of the civil war. Enjoy breathtaking views of Charleston and the harbor while you relive history.  Visit the Gibbs Museum of Art where you come face to face with stories of the South Carolina low country as seen through paintings, sculpture, and photographs at Charleston’s signature art museum.  To view cultural and national history objects from ancient fossils and an enormous whale skeleton to elegant costumes & Civil War artifacts come to the Charleston Museum.  For those who love the theatre, the Dock Street Theatre hosts the Charleston Stage Company’s full season of plays, musicals, and theatre.  Or how about a candlelight ghost tour through the heart of Charleston’s “haunted history”. The list goes on and on.

Location

The city of Charleston is located just south of the mid-point of South Carolina's coastline, at the confluence of the Ashley, Wando  and Cooper rivers, which flow together to the Atlantic Ocean. Charleston Harbor lies between downtown Charleston and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a 10 minute ride to the beaches at Sullivan's Island or Folly Beach. The airport is about 20 minutes away.
