Boeing’s New Dreamliner Rolls Out of North Charleston Plant

Our hats are off to Boeing, with a special shout out to all of the company’s hard working employees and their families here in the Lowcountry! The Seattle-based aerospace giant just announced that on April 27, the North Charleston plant will finally roll out its first completed aircraft, the widely-anticipated 787 Dreamliner . The Dreamliner is a large capacity airliner featuring new lighter weight carbon-reinforced plastic composite materials instead of traditional aluminum parts significantly boosting fuel-efficiency. The Dreamliner is set for its inaugural flight sometime in June.

We are thrilled to be a small part of Boeing’s successful move to the Charleston area. In 2009, shortly after the company announced its planned construction of the North Charleston plant, we began working with employees and their families who needed to move to Charleston from Boeing sites across the country. These employees and their families needed to quickly find attractive, affordable houses in great communities. They also needed locations easily commutable to and from the Boeing plant – as well as homes that offered many of the same amenities and comforts of home they were used to.

We were up to the challenge! We met so many wonderful families and we were excited to show them a wide variety of fabulous possibilities. Obviously, we couldn’t be more pleased to learn from many of these families how much they love their new life here! They talk about their wonderful new friends, glorious year-round weather, great beaches and all the great family-friendly activities there are to do. Boeing employees work hard and put in many long hours to build safe, solidly built planes for us to fly. Helping them to enjoy every minute of their downtime with family is our way of saying thank you. Congratulations to the Boeing team on reaching the goal line with the first South Carolina built 787 Dreamliner!

Un-Retire In Charleston!

If you dream of relaxing in your lounger with remote control in hand... If your idea of a great time is going to the coffee shop and talking with other seniors about your ailments…That’s for folks who want to retire to Florida or Arizona.

If you dream of action packed days doing all the things you always wanted to do more of in a small city that delivers on the dream – you need to check out Charleston. I call it “un-retirement”. Sure leave the big city hassles and especially the stress of a job behind and rest for a few weeks…then dive into days packed with the activities you love.

Get out on the water angling for big fish at dawn in Charleston harbor. Share pictures of your catch with your golf buddies on the back nine in the afternoon. Show off your backhand at doubles tennis at the Family Circle Tennis Center. In the evening dazzle everyone with awesome barbeque skills on the deck of your fabulous waterfront home. Life in Charleston is refreshing and pure fun – greatly enhanced by the wonderfully friendly people here.

Who wouldn’t want to spend the rest of their life here? Charleston was recently voted #1 by Conde Nast Travelers, ranked on qualities like ambiance, atmosphere, restaurants and lodging. We even beat out San Francisco. The overriding factor in selecting Charleston was the welcoming, polite, friendly people.

Does Charleston have a lot of retirement oriented communities? Heck no! Who wants to retire with a bunch of us old folks? Charleston has a wonderful mix of all demographics. Daniel Island is one of our favorites with young starter families, plenty of middle aged families and a good representation of retired families mixed together. Living around young families seems to keep an energy in the air that is inspiring to all ages. Not your idea of retirement…I understand and off to Florida you go… Otherwise check out Daniel Island, I’ON, Isle of Palms and many others we are happy to show you.

The options to fill your days are many – there are many pristine beaches no more than twenty minutes away, charming historic southern architecture to enjoy, cobble stone streets to explore in historic Charleston, theater (The Dock Street Theater opened in 1736 - seriously), plantations to check out, and enchanting horse-drawn carriages with great tour guides with stories that make you laugh until it hurts. At the end of the day throw your shopping bags in the car and walk to one of the many award-winning restaurants frequently featured in the national news.

No wonder people love to visit Charleston. But can you imagine the joy of living here every day? You bet! This 90 second video produced by the Charlton Visitor’s Bureau is a must to enjoy a peek into our unusual culture –

Charleston Recently Voted Top City In The U.S. By Conde Naste Travelers' Readers Choice Awards

Charleston recently voted top city in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.

It’s little wonder that so many people are extending their Charleston vacations into life-time “stay-cations” here. Last October, this coastal gem was voted top city in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards, beating out highly touted cities like San Francisco and New York on qualities like atmosphere, ambiance, culture, sites and more. There’s so much to see and do Charleston, with its historic architectural charm, award-winning restaurants, fabulous shopping, great places to stay. And, no other U.S. city can boast the gracious hospitality of Charleston’s super-friendly people! Of course, there’s also the mild year-round weather and plenty of great ways to just relax, whether kayaking along a creek or just taking a stroll along a nearby beach. Charleston is not just winning awards – it’s winning the hearts of visitors every day!

Spirit Magazine, the in-flight publication of Spirit Airlines, couldn’t agree more. A recent article (www.spiritmag.com June 2011)pointed out: “Unlike a lot of visitor destinations, the Charleston area is a place where visitors can seriously envision putting down roots. Many make the move, smitten by the area’s stunning coastal beauty, rich history, mild weather, exceptional dining, relatively low cost of living, and of course, unique southern style. Ask any resident and they’ll likely tell you the lifestyle is what either got them here or keeps them put.”

Why not visit Charleston and experience for yourself why it’s been voted the top U.S. city? You’ll see why so many happy people are choosing to call this uniquely beautiful city “home”. And, while you’re here, we’d be delighted to show you some beautiful homes in any of the fabulous communities in the area. Please call us at 843.259.9913.
